How To Work From Home With A Dog

By Johnny Camilleri / Dog Tips, Hypro Premium / May 25, 2020

As restrictions begin to slowly ease, many of us are still working remotely from our households so here is how to work from home with a dog. The pandemic has caused us to take on new schedules, new ways of doing things, and new priorities, all of these can disturb the safe surroundings you work hard to create in your home. The same can cause a lot of anxiety in our pets and it can take time for them to adjust to the new situations. Our furry friends can be the cutest distraction so here is a list of things you can do to make working at home while having a dog easy as a breeze.

Work On A Schedule

Work is one of our priorities and one of your pet’s top priorities is to play with you.  Sometimes these desires can conflict whilst you are working from home. The good news is that you can still give your canine companion the necessary playtime to keep them happy. It is best to work on a schedule for when you will spend dedicated time with your dog around your work schedule. This may be during your break time or even after work is done for the day.

Designate A Work Area

After you are done playing and sit down to get some work done, try to sit in such a room where your dog may not be able to disturb you while you’re trying to concentrate. Letting your pup out in the yard where you can keep an eye on them or putting them in a designated rest/time-out area are good ways to help you take care of your pup when you need some alone time.

Cultivate Independent Play

Does your pup have a favourite game that they like to play by themselves? Does your pup interact well with toys that can keep them occupied? If yes, then that is great! You can use this to keep your pup engaged in fun play independently by themselves. Using interactive toys is also a good way to keep your pup occupied while you work, and there are some great options on the market that even help your pup learn new skills while they play!

If your pup follows the rules and is being a good pup whilst you work, then this good behaviour deserves a treat! Show them some love by giving them an Australian made treat that is nutritious and tasty like our Hypro Premium Tasty Chews. We hope that using these treats along with our tips you can easily manage how to work from home with a dog.
