The benefits of ocean fish

Fish plays a key part as a base food for healthy and nutritious diets for dogs. The types of ocean fish used in dog foods as the main protein can include ocean whitefish, walleye, flounder, herring, Arctic char and salmon pike.

Dogs love fish to be plain and simple. These types of fish can be steamed, baked or grilled.

The reason that fish is so sustaining and healthy for dogs is that it’s an excellent source of protein that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduces the way dogs react to pollen and other common allergy triggers that are commonly found in the environment.

Fish is an easily digestible source of protein. It is especially good for those dogs that have suffered any digestive upsets or which have diseases of either the liver or the kidney. Fish is also beneficial because it is relatively low in saturated fats and has few empty calories so it’s good when it comes to weight control.

Another advantage of fish in a dog’s diet is the ability fish has to impart various vitamins and healthy properties without any increased risk of protein overload or weight gain that could cause a dog’s internal organs to need to work much harder to process food.

When fish is the main staple of a dog’s diet it provides protein without overburdening the digestive system the way some protein-rich meats can do. This is one reason why fish is so good for dogs, particularly when they are getting older. Indeed, the benefits of sea fish can often be more noticeable in older dogs when they can find red meat no longer suits them.

Years of research has determined that even though canines are generally considered carnivorous animals, they require certain fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals to satisfy their nutritional requirements and many of these can be found in rich supply in ocean fish.

Nutrition is important to canine wellbeing so it was with this in mind that we set out to develop our premium feed Hypro Premium. It is nutritionally balanced, includes all the essential oils, minerals, and fats and is made with 100% real meat.
